Who we are

This website is operated by Mohammad Ehteshamul Haque, trading as Cultural Geeks, at culturalgeeks.com. For privacy matters, write to hello@culturalgeeks.com.

What we collect and why

We collect only what we need.

• Email address. When you sign up to the newsletter or submit a contact or speaking enquiry. We use your email to send what you asked for, and nothing else unless you have subscribed to the newsletter.
• Name and message. When you fill in a contact or speaking form. Used only to respond to your enquiry.
• Country (inferred from IP address). We detect your country on page load to show the most relevant retailer for the order button. The detection is performed by ipapi.co. The result is stored in your browser only (localStorage). We do not store it on our servers.
• Anonymous site usage data. Page views, referrer, country, and device type, collected by Cloudflare Web Analytics. No cookies. No personal identifiers. No cross-site tracking.

Who we share your data with

We use a small number of third-party services to run the site.

• Kit (formerly ConvertKit). Stores your email address for the newsletter. Kit is GDPR-compliant and based in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
• Netlify / Vercel. Hosts the website and receives form submissions before passing them to us. Form data is stored temporarily during processing.
• Cloudflare. Provides DNS, analytics, and spam protection (Turnstile). Cloudflare processes network traffic but does not receive personal data we collect.
• ipapi.co. Performs the country lookup for the order button. Only your IP address is sent. The result is returned and processed in your browser.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep your data

• Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
• Contact and speaking enquiries: up to 24 months, then deleted.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, write to hello@culturalgeeks.com. We will respond within 30 days.

To unsubscribe from the newsletter, use the unsubscribe link in any email we send. To request deletion of your data, email us.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for a professional adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through one of our forms, write to us and we will delete it.

Cookies

This site does not use tracking cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless. The only data stored in your browser is your chosen country preference for the order button (localStorage), which you can clear at any time through your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page. We will not notify you by email unless required to do so by law.
